Starr Bus Charter & Tours seeks a proactive and organized Driver Manager and Safety Supervisor to oversee our driving team's performance and development. The ideal candidate will foster a collaborative environment for the Starr Driving Team, ensure our high standards of performance are being met, promote safe driving behaviors, and manage training programs and compliance with industry regulations. Job requirements
Driver Performance Management
- Monitor Starr driving team daily to assess performance and adherence to company standards.
- Facilitate monthly pulse reviews to provide constructive feedback and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage and administer quarterly driver bonus program. Analyze results to achieve driver improvement and suggest modifications and improvements to program.
- Promote safe driving behaviors by reviewing Samsara safety alerts and conduct one on one driver coaching in real time.
Driver Development & Management
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages continuous improvement.
- Conduct bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with drivers to address concerns, provide coaching, and support their professional development.
- Ensure drivers are trained and prepared for all job types assigned to them.
- Identify training needs and coordinate training sessions to enhance driver skills and knowledge.
- Manage and implement an ongoing Driver Refresher Road Training program.
- Participate in regular company safety meetings and develop relevant content to present to staff.
- Send out weekly email communication to Driver staff.
Driver Training Program
- Take ownership of all aspects of Starr Bus Charter and Tours' new driver training program including screening and interviewing potential candidates.
- Collaborate with the hiring team to assess candidate suitability for the training program.
- Oversee Starr’s ELDT (Entry Level Driver Training) program for candidates without their Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDLs) or lacking proper endorsements.
- Design training materials, manuals, and conduct classroom sessions to educate new drivers on safety protocols, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate hands-on training sessions, road tests, and evaluations for trainees.
- Evaluate the progress and performance of trainees, providing constructive feedback and additional training as needed.
- Stay informed about changes in industry regulations and adjust the training program accordingly.
- Utilize the Smith System and other training methodologies to ensure comprehensive driver training.
- Ensure the program covers not only the development of safe vehicle operation but also all other aspects of the job to prepare new drivers for any assignment or situation.
- Introduce and train drivers on Starr software systems, policies, and procedures.
Dispatch Operations
- Prepare drivers for upcoming trips and jobs, ensuring they have the necessary information and resources.
- Be proficient in dispatch software systems
Scheduling and Managing Part-Time Driver Trainers
- Responsible for scheduling and managing part-time driver trainers.
- Coordinate training schedules, resources, and ensure adherence to training protocols.
On-Call Duty
- As a member of the Operations and Dispatch team, be on call every 3rd week to address operational or safety issues outside regular business hours.
Manage Bus Cleaning Service Operation
- Manage the bus cleaning service operation to ensure vehicles are clean, sanitized, and well-maintained.
- Coordinate cleaning schedules and inspections to meet company cleanliness standards.
- Collaborate with cleaning staff to address any maintenance or cleanliness issues promptly.
Additional Qualifications:
- Class B or higher CDL. (Required)
- Experience training drivers with the Smith System.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to multitask, and develop/manage new processes.
- Proficiency in working with software systems to implement efficient processes and flows.
