Diesel Mechanic

About Us: Starr Bus Charter and Tours is a leading provider of high-quality charter bus and tour services, known for our commitment to safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction. We are looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team at our location in Hamilton, NJ.

Job Summary: Will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on our fleet of diesel-powered buses. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine mechanics, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of vehicle safety and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on diesel motorcoaches, including engine tune-ups, oil changes, brake adjustments, tire rotations, and other necessary repairs.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on diesel engines and related systems.

• Diagnose diesel fuel injection and highly proficient in after-treatment systems.

• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve issues promptly and accurately.

• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed.

• Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure all vehicles are safe and ready for service.

• Stay up to date with the latest industry standards, technology, and best practices.

• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or certification in diesel mechanics preferred.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic, preferably with experience working on buses or heavy vehicles.

• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and HVAC systems.

• Experience with welding and fabricating.

• Proficient in using diagnostic equipment and software.

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.

• Valid driver's license: CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred or willingness to obtain.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

• Comfortable working in various weather conditions and environments.

• Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
